Comment from Producer Iwamoto:
“Fist of the North Star” is an IP popular among fans of multiple generations. For the CBT, we expected a wide demographic that reflected this, with a core user base centered around male users in their 30s to 40s who grew up with the original manga back when it was released. It turned out that users that participated in the CBT were mainly... males in their 30s to 40s! Lol!
With this title, we wanted to first cater to existing “Fist of the North Star” fans, so we are happy to see that we’ve successfully managed to achieve this.
Comment from Producer Iwamoto:
While we’ve made every effort to create a game that’s as true as possible to the original story and caters to fans of “Fist of the North Star”, we also realized that in doing so we were leaving ourselves open to a fair bit of potentially negative feedback.
However, the result of the CBT survey was as follows:
*Want to play the game(67%)
*Want to play if certain elements were improved:(29%)
We were happy to find that a total of 96% of users are interested in playing the game upon launch.
On the other hand, we also received feedback on a number of points that users were not satisfied with. We fully intend to keep these points in mind and to do our best to continue to improve the game in the lead up to its official release.
Comment from Producer Iwamoto:
As you can see, the illustration of Kenshiro and Raoh on key visual and title screen was drawn by Tetsuo Hara himself. As such, the only way I think it can be described is as a piece of art. However, I believe that our team has also done a terrific job at creating the rest of the character illustrations and graphics, under Tetsuo Hara’s supervision.
When reproducing these characters today, a balance must be struck between keeping faithful to the originals while at the same time making the art style new and fresh. Doing so wasn’t easy, but we were very happy with the positive feedback we received from users.
Among the feedback we received during the CBT was the following comment from a female user:
“I’d never seen Fist of the North Star before, but after playing this game I’ve become fan.”
Since one of our goals in carefully recreating the story of the original manga was not only to cater to existing fans but also appeal to new ones, the entire team found comments like these to be very encouraging!
Although the number of playable characters during the CBT was limited, many more will be available when the game officially releases. Users really will be able to put together their own personal dream team, so stay tuned!
Comment from Producer Iwamoto:
Thank you very much to everyone that provided feedback. Also, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the above points that were raised during the CBT.
We are currently working hard to improve these elements prior to the game’s official release.
